My approach to psychological growth

Creatives naturally face a good amount of anxiety as they create and share their art. And most of the time they do the best they can, but they know they are often wasting time, and getting lost in the process because they are stuck in their own unhelpful patterns.

I help you grow by giving you a clear roadmap to working with your body and mind. As a licensed psychologist, who specializes in working with artists, I have dedicated my career to understanding why you are overwhelmed, frustrated, and stuck, and how you can rise to the challenge of being a creative, and enjoy the process!

When artists get clear on their patterns around anxiety and fear, they naturally respond to them differently. And when you understand the psychology behind your disruptive behaviors, you can start to interrupt them.

Understanding our patterns is the quickest and most sustainable way to make meaningful change. This clarity allows artists to be less reactive to the natural stressors of life, and rise to the challenges of making and sharing their art with a loyal following.

When creatives grow psychologically they see big improvements in the amount of time and energy its takes them to do difficult things. They begin to see themselves more clearly and get more intentional about their career as an artist. As a result they save years of wasted time stalled in their process.

Q&As

Why is being a creative so hard?

Since art is a reflection of the person making it, being a creative requires a deeper level of self-awareness than most other careers. This kind of personal awareness and growth naturally stirs up a lot of anxiety in the person, and they can easily get stuck in their reactions and bad habits.

Why can’t I stay motivated?

People often link motivation with passion, but what I’ve found is that someone can be very passionate about what they’re creating, and still find themselves unmotivated in the process of creating and sharing it. This is most often a result of not knowing how to navigate the deep waters of anxiety and stress that come with creating. As you get clear on your underlying psychological processes, you can experience increased motivation and energy for change.

Why am I so overwhelmed?

One of the main reasons creatives feel especially overwhelmed is because in their work they get a lot of feedback - welcomed and not welcomed! This pushes them to develop a stronger sense of self than most, so that they can face that feedback (which can be very difficult) and make important decisions in their careers. Feeling overwhelmed is a natural part of the creative’s experience, which is why it’s so important that they learn how to grow themselves psychologically.

Why am I getting stuck in self-destructive habits?

The frustrations and stress that come with being an artist can feel awful, and most of the time people don’t know what to do with their intense emotions. As a result, it is common for creatives to get stuck in these experiences and try to create distance between them and their emotions. What’s even more frustrating is that as they distance themselves from their emotions, they compromise their ability to create from a genuine place. This is why it’s so important that they learn to increase their distress tolerance and stay connected to themselves.

I understand the pains and frustrations that come with creating and sharing your art.

I am passionate about teaching artists a solid psychological approach to guide them to higher levels of functioning, so that they can reach their potential. I would love to support you on your journey.
